ABSTRACT
In this study, the objective of the study is to analyze the questions in the second grade Turkish school books and those of OKS by using Bloom's cognitive taxonomy. In this respect, pre-context and post-context questions have been cognitively compared with OKS questions determining the pre-step toward the students choice of job that they would prefer to have in the future in accordance with their desire and competence. In the study where describtive scanning model has been used, relevant literature has been worked through and a theoretical chapter has been written. In this research Turkish school books to be used in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades of elementary school in 2004-2005 academic year - proposed by 'Talim Terbiye' Committee (Teaching and Training Committee) of Ministry of National Education(MNE) and published in the 2561 num-bered TebliÄŸler Dergisi - and OKS questions have been studied. Nine Turkish course books have been indicated including MNE 6th, 7th, 8th grade Turkish course books, the ones of MNE 6th, 7th, 8th, grade open education and those of Mahir Publication. The sample questions taken out of sample Turkish school books have been turned into the graphics and tables and interpreted both in terms of their dispersion proportions formed in accordance with the cognitive stages, frequency (f) and percentage (%) techniques are also used for these graphics and tables. It is concluded that the Turkish school books are not sufficient to prepare the students for OKS and questions of OKS and of those Turkish school books are prepared regardless of the cognitive levels of the students.
