ABSTRACT
The article discusses the Financial Purse Survey by the Healthcare Financial Management Association which found that hospitals transition from tactical to strategic cost management. It indicates that hospital focused on cost-control efforts in the areas of supplies and labor. It adds that labor costs were addressed through staff reductions, cutting overtime costs, and reducing retirement contributions.
