ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the multiemployer pension plan systems and the challenges it encountered. It discusses its characteristics in which it says that it is defined benefit (DB) plans established by labor unions and employers agreements. It mentions that multiemployer plans had faced reductions in funding in 2000. It talks about the characteristics of multiemployer plan which affect the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. (PBGC) in which it says that multiemployer plans insured by PBGC had declined.
