ABSTRACT
The article discusses underfloor cooling as an alternative to air conditioning. The advantages of underfloor cooling include a cooling effect with no draughts, no cold spots, and reduced risk of Sick Building Syndrome. Underfloor cooling also has the benefit of producing low energy, low carbon solution using low capital and low running costs. This type of cooling consists of chiller units but operates with heat pump systems or uses direct ground source energy probes extracting heat via heat exchanger.
