ABSTRACT
The article presents a letter from Steven J. Sebastian, director of Financial Management and Assistance at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) regarding financial statements of the Congressional Award Foundation from 2008 to September 30, 2009. GAO notes that the Foundation's financial statement was presented fairly and has met the U.S. accounting principles. GAO has also identified material weakness in the Foundation's internal control over financial reporting in 2009.
