ABSTRACT
The article profiles Donnie Cochran, the first African-American member of the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the flying team popularly known as Blue Angels which perform daring aerial stunts. As Lieutenant Commander, Cochran who flies plane No. 3 that is part of the famous diamond formation, is said to have gone a long way from his childhood dream of becoming a pilot. It describes his journey from an awe-struck boy in Georgia whenever the roaring military planes fly over, to a prestigious aviator in the navy.
