The article focuses on Dubai Metro, a rail transport system in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It highlights the recruitment and employment practices used by its operator Serco who won the 500 million British pound 10-year contract to operate and maintain the Dubai Metro in March 2008. Also focal to the article is the technical and skills training provided to the Metro's employees which played a part in promoting integration of workers from a range of cultural backgrounds including Indians, Filipinos, Malaysians, Thais, Pakistanis, and Europeans.
