ABSTRACT
The article focuses on exempting security devices from Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) in the U.S., which requires all consumer electronic devices to meet energy standards for off and standby modes. It says that security devices should be always active regardless of energy consumption for life safety purposes. Thus, the Security Industry Association (SIA) along with other groups requested to modify the bill after rejection from the Department of Energy (DOE).
