The article discusses the adoption of the H.264 audio video coding technology on security cameras. It says that H.264 has lower storage costs without losing image quality, frame rate and retention time. However, the system demands more computer resources to compress and decompress data, where, according to Mark Wilson of Infinova LLC, will require the cameras more power that may affect its reliability and high motion scene intraframe compression may introduce compression artifacts to the video.
