ABSTRACT
The article presents a study of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the food imports in the U.S. The study states that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) set up overseas offices to deal with the safety of food imports which results to the predicted 200 food inspections in 2009 and 600 in 2010. The study presents ways proposed by GAO for the management of food safety such as identification of generally recognized as safe (GRAS) in food ingredients for their intended usage.
