ABSTRACT
The article presents a study of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on unemployment insurance (UI) in the U.S. The study uses the UI state statistical data of the UI financial conditions and program of the Employment and Training Administration (ETA) of the Department of Labor. The study states that the state UI trust funds are said to be in a poor financial condition based on the 38.9 billion dollars of outstanding loans from the federal government of the 34 state trust funds.
