ABSTRACT
The article reports that German Chancellor Angela Merkel will encourage her Group of 20 (G-20) counterparts to act on increasing political control over financial markets and add taxes on banks at a conference of finance ministers. According to the article, Merkel also stated that she will urge G-20 leaders to coordinate their strategies as they withdraw stimulus measures that were enacted during the financial crisis. The creation of a European ratings agency was also discussed by Merkel.
