ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the passion of Dave McTigue, director of culinary and nutrition services at Lanier Village Estates, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Gainesville, Georgia, of making giant gingerbread houses. He first saw a giant gingerbread house while he was doing his apprenticeship at the Hyatt Hotel in Richmond, Virginia. He outlines some of the features of his gingerbread house, including little lights, furniture and a Christmas tree. He thinks that the neatest thing about a gingerbread house is its smell.
