ABSTRACT
The article discusses how Mark Williams, executive chef for the distillery Brown-Forman, makers of Jack Daniels, transformed the grounds of Brown-Forman in Louisville, Kentucky into an urban thriving garden using bourbon barrels. He was successful in growing fruit, vegetables and herbs in a series of oak barrels filled with organic soil. He decided to use old bourbon and whiskey barrels for the garden because he thinks that the soil in the ground may be too toxic for growing his crops. He uses organic fertilizers and earthworms to nourish the soil.
