ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the success of Texas-based farmer Steve Albracht, the 2009 National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) Corn Yield Contest winner for irrigated, ridge-till production, in his business by not planting fast and paying attention to detail. Any sign of plant stress that could jeopardize production is sought by Albracht who maintains a planting speed of 4.5 to 5 miles per hour. The world record corn yield, 442.14 bushels per acre, is aimed to be broken by Albracht.
