Interest in Madeira makes swift recovery after floods

The article reports that Madeira Island swiftly recovered from the damages caused by violent storm on February 20, 2010. The said calamity caused heavy floods and mudslides, killing 42 people and injuring 70 more. After a week, Funchal city center has been cleared and made accessible to pedestrians. According to Sidónio de Freitas Pereira of Pestana Hotels and Resorts, the calamity prompted regular clients to call and inquire on whether the island was safe to visit.
