ABSTRACT
The article reports on the concerns of lawyers in the chemical industry regarding the scope of the bills aimed at reforming the U.S. Toxics Substances Control Act (TSCA). The bills were introduced by Senator Frank Lautenberg and Representative Bobby Rush. Some of the concerns of industry lawyers include lack of transparency in how the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) would select the set of 300 priority chemicals which would be first to be subject to safety determinations, and the absence of provisions for judicial review of agency decisions.
