ABSTRACT
The article discusses the impact of financial cuts in the education sector in New York. It notes that the governor and Senate's budget proposals enactment can produce a loss of about 20,000 education jobs in 2011. According to New York State United Teachers president Dick Iannuzzi, the proposal which involves the cut of more that 1.7 billion dollars from education will reduce school programs, summer schools and larger class sizes.
