HomePlug nears global standard status

The article reports on the formalization of HomePlug Powerline Alliance's HomePlug technology to become a global standard through the ratification process of Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers Inc.(IEEE). The ratification of the standard is due to the aim of Smart Grid program to manage U.S. power industry through low-cost powerline communication deployment. The standard is designed to allow the operation of physical devices without interference in accordance with the IEEE P1901.
