ABSTRACT
A personal narrative is presented which explores the author's experience of discovering and retracing the steps of his father, Lieutenant Henry S. Allen, Jr., who commanded the ship LCI(L)-1091 in the Pacific during World War II, through eyewitness and written accounts of the lieutenant's surviving company and friends.
