This section offers news briefs on U.S. military history. Charles Wilson, retired U.S. Democratic representative of Texas who supported the mujahideen in Afghanistan during the 1979-1989 Soviet war, died on February 10, 2010 at the age of 76. The old belfry plaque which heralded the opening of the American Revolutionary War by the Lexington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution on April 19, 1775 was recovered by the Lexington police in Massachusetts. Robert L. Howard, a highly-decorated U.S. soldier, died at the age of 70 in December 2009.
