ABSTRACT
The article reveals a private collection of letters auctioned by Sotheby in Spring 2010 which pointed out the unrecorded despair felt by the British commanders during the American Revolutionary War and the lack of perspective by the British monarchy, testimonies that included sobering accounts from Sir Henry Strachey, General John Burgoyne and British Lord George Germain, some dating back from 1775.
