ABSTRACT
The article discusses financial reform legislation in the U.S. Congress contains a provision that could curb federal preemption of state law in banking. The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) reportedly opposes the provisions, as does the banking industry. Experts say that with so many other issues in the financial reform legislation demanding their attention, the banking industry hasn't been able to help the OCC lobby to prevent changes in the current preemption law.
