ABSTRACT
The article explores the diversity of languages within which one's own voice sounds. The author believes that voices stratify a world in which people's languages and their ways of making oral graphic symbols make for a dynamic and overwhelming world. It states that becoming comfortable and strategic on linguistic heterogeneity is a critical goal of English Language Arts (ELA). The involvement of the youth in popular culture is discussed, as well as the role of children's play in the collective construction of alternative worlds.
