ABSTRACT
The article discusses the security situation in South Korea. It notes that South Korea has no major internal threats because of its closed-door policy towards North Korean refugees. North Korea is indicated to pose a significant threat to South Korea with its deployment of long-range artillery and multiple-launch rockets along the border. It indicates U.S. commitment to protect South Korea whose relationship extends to trade expansion. South Korea is also expected to retake its wartime operational control of its troops from the U.S. by April 17, 2012.
