ABSTRACT
As unprecedented numbers of veterans return from Iraq and Afghanistan with post traumatic stress disorder, depression, and a number of additional concerns, mental health professionals will play a critical role in the care and treatment of these individuals. Although much media and research attention has been directed towards these clinical issues, little emphasis has been placed upon the career development needs of veterans. Career counselors are now being called upon to play a unique role in the treatment of veterans; therefore, graduate students, as well as current career counseling professionals, need to be aware of the career development concerns of this population, particularly those returning from combat.
