ABSTRACT
In this article "American Banker" presents important points in the finance reform debate going on among members of the U.S. Congress. The proposed reform bill would not perpetuate bailouts of big banks as Republicans claim. A proposed fund to be set up with payments made by big banks could not be used for bailouts as Republicans claim. Democratic claims about tougher regulations are also inaccurate.
