See HR as a professional services firm, says Ulrich

Brockett, James
March 2010
People Management;3/25/2010, p11
The article discusses the need for human resources (HR) leaders to widen their focus beyond employees and management, and ensure that all company stakeholders are served well. In relation to this, HR practitioners are advised to see themselves as a professional services group within the firm whose job is to assess and transfer resources to improve client productivity. Experts infer that the top 20 percent of organizations were able to build sustainability during the recession because of the right response from HR.
