El artículo habla de cómo Turquía se ha hecho autosuficiente en materia de industrias básicas de defensa. También se examina cómo las compañías turcas pueden competir en los mercados de defensa internacional y tener una presencia en varios campos de la industria militar, como el aeroespacial, cohetería, armamento, municiones y electrónica, gracias a la creación de la Subsecretaría de Industrias de Defensa (SSM), una entidad gubernamental, para modernizar las Fuerzas Armadas.
