ABSTRACT
The article discusses the pessimism in New Zealand's screen production industry. It cites that the biggest challenge faced by television distributors for 2010 will be to overcome the lack of quality programming that was caused by a commission freeze in 2009. It notes a further drop in advertising revenue by Television New Zealand (TVNZ) and an increasing pressure on New Zealand On Air for funding coming from broadcasters and producers. It indicates the Screen Production Incentive Fund (SPIF) that placed producers in a better recoupment position.
