ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the Live Oak Society in Louisiana. Such society was founded by University of Southwestern Louisiana president Edwin L. Stephens in 1934. The live oak, also known as Quercus virginiana, has several uses including protection from storms, food for animals, and shade. The efforts of the Society to save live oaks are cited.
