ABSTRACT
This paper studies the equations of rack cutters for generating conical gears with asymmetric involute teeth. By applying the equations of designed profile of rack cutter, the principle of coordinate transformation, the theory of differential geometry, and the theory of gearing, the mathematical model of involute conical gear with asymmetric teeth is given. Based on the given mathematical model, a computer program is developed for simulating the generation process. Numerical illustrated examples are given for straight and helical beveloid gears.

This paper studies the equations of rack cutters for generating involute gears with asymmetric teeth. The asymmetry means that different pressure angles are applied for the driving and coast sides. By applying the equations of the designed profile of the rack cutter, the principle of coordinate...

Coordinates transformation is generally required in GPS applications. If the transformation parameters are solved with the known coordinates in a small area using the Bursa model, the precision of transformed coordinates is generally very poor. Since the translation parameters and rotation...

The article discusses the Bombelli approach for solving cubic equations. According to the author, any cubic could be restated as a reduced cubic by dividing through by a and then substituting y = x - b/3a, which is an example of a so-called Tschirnhaus transformation that eliminates the squared...

In this contribution it is shown that the so-called 'total least-squares estimate' (TLS) within an errors-in-variables (EIV) model can be identified as a special case of the method of least-squares within the nonlinear Gauss-Helmert model. In contrast to the EIV-model, the nonlinear GH-model...

A numerical algorithm for computing the runup of a solitary tsunami wave in the case of complex shoreline topography is proposed. The algorithm involves the construction of coordinate mappings that transform a uniform rectangular grid over a reference computational domain into a grid over a...
