ABSTRACT
The article offers information on oak tree in Australia. One of the oldest oak trees in Australia is indicated to stand in the premises of Latrobe Golf Club in the Melbourne suburb of Alphington and is believed to have been planted circa 1840 by Kate Wills. The first recorded oaks were brought in Australia by John McArthur, founder of the Merino sheep industry in 1817. The Alphington oak tree is not only the oldest in Victoria but is possibly the oldest oak in Australia with intimate connection with Australia's history.
