ABSTRACT
The article discusses the genus Quercus including species Q. petraea, Q. dalechampii and Q.polycarpa that are grown in Romania. The silvicultural importance of the Romanian native oaks led to their being studied from different points of view including botanical, ecological and genetic. It points out that deforestation, abusive forest pasturing and the effects of air pollution and acid rain have resulted in the dieback of oaks in Romania. It cites efforts by the research station to exchange acorns with forest seed crops.
