ABSTRACT
The article discusses the impact of increasing customer interest in barefoot running on the footwear industry in the U.S. It is stated that the barefoot-running Tarahumara tribe of Mexico is described in the best-selling book "Born to Run," released in 2009. Stephen Gartside, president of Newton Running, comments that running form and shoe design are the topics of discussion these days among the footwear industry and asserts that the prevailing trend for running shoes will be minimalism.
