ABSTRACT
The article presents the report "Update on the Status of the Merchantable Timber Contracting Pilot Program" of the U.S. Government Accountability Office. It examines the number of projects the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) have implemented under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 and experiences of agencies in using the pilot program. It shows that the Forest Service and BLM have approved and implemented almost 1,100 Title II projects.
