ABSTRACT
The article presents detailed information on expanded graphite, with reference to hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR). It is stated that recent work has shown that graphite can be exfoliated all the way down to graphene via wet chemistry, where oxidation to graphite oxide leads to dispersed platelets that are only one atom thick, which may then be reduced back to graphene. Expanded graphite as initially produced looks like worms, and the bulk density is extremely low.
