The article reports on antenna arrays for application in base stations. Several equations are provided to determine the multiplication pattern of a linear array, the half-wavelength dipole and the excited array pattern. In addition to the bandwidth and polarization requirements, antennas are required to handle multiple frequencies including high electric power. The launch of smart antennas enabled users to improve the reliability of a service area.
