ABSTRACT
The article focuses on three blue sapphires examined at a laboratory in Bangkok, Thailand which, according to the author, were diffusion treated with both titanium (Ti) and beryllium (Be). It notes that the results of the microscopic examination found that the stones contained partially dissolved needles and heat-altered, partially healed fractures and crystals. Also cited is the use of the laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) to analyze the samples.
