ABSTRACT
The article reports on the competing bid offered by Merge Healthcare Inc. to acquire Amicas Inc. Merge's offer of 6.05 U.S. dollars a share in cash emerged less than two months after Thomas Bravo first agreed to take Amicas Inc. private through a deal worth 217 million U.S. dollars or 5.35 U.S. dollars a share. The reasons for the board of directors' decision to reject the proposed bid of Merge are also discussed.
