ABSTRACT
The article reports on two court rulings in Florida regarding home foreclosures. One ruling requires that a lender must verify that it has all of the proper documents including proof it owns the mortgage before foreclosing. Another ruling stated that all Florida foreclosure cases must go through mediation, which bankers believe increases the expense for them. The verification and mediation requirements were designed to ease the number of foreclosure cases in the state.
