ABSTRACT
The author explores a narrowing of differences between English teacher educators and classroom teachers. According to some people, this gap is a natural tension between innovative university theory and the regularized daily practice of the schools. The author discusses the results of a survey he developed to measure the agreement or lack thereof between teacher educators and classroom teachers.
