The article offers information on table top devices such as commercial table-top extreme ultraviolet (EUV) source that generates both extreme ultraviolet light and soft X-rays through high-harmonic generation of ultrafast infrared laser pulses which in turn is used in research laboratories and hospitals, hand-held laser pointers and flight-hardened weapons systems. Two critical engineering developments that led to the development of the first table-top EUV sources are also discussed.
