The article offers solutions to enhance energy generation efficiency. One proposed solution is to upgrade powerplants that are either gas-fired or combined-cycle by using new compressors or rotors, advanced combustion systems, and updated emissions and control packages. Controls should reportedly be improved to reduce cost and improve power quality as well. Installation of monitoring and diagnostic hardware and software can also help to provide real-time reports thus making performance assessment easier.
