ABSTRACT
ZrO[sub 2] films have been deposited at room temperature using Zr(OC[sub 4]H[sub 9])[sub 4] and O[sub 2] source gases in a low-pressure electron-cyclotron-resonance-excited plasma reactor. The deposited films were, in general, mixed (amorphous and polycrystalline; monoclinic or tetragonal), the crystallinity depending upon the substrate polarization during deposition and the postdeposition annealing. Infrared vibrational modes of the films have been characterized. In as-deposited films, the dielectric constants were ∼12–18, dependent upon sample bias during deposition, and the refractive indices were ∼1.85–1.92. © 2001 American Institute of Physics.

Measurements of the IR spectra are made on thin-film water cryovacuum condensates formed on a metal substrate in the temperature range 16–200 K. It is found that the frequency of molecular stretching vibrations are shifted to lower frequencies with increasing temperature; this is...

Ultra-thin MoO3 films were deposited onto glass and Si substrates by r.f. magnetron sputtering. The optical and IR properties of the films were studied in the range of 250 to 1000 nm and 400 to 1500 cm−1, respectively. The optical transmission spectra show a significant shift in absorption...

We demonstrate that infrared spectra of water covered by a film of heptadecanol show a continuous spectral shift, from a band characteristic of liquid water to one characteristic of ice, as the temperature is ramped from -10 to -17 °C. It has been shown that flame retardant fibers, fiber additives and finishes in fabrics can be identified by their infrared spectra. The rapid and nondestructive multiple internal reflection technique was found to be suitable for the identification of most inherently flame retardant fibers. If...
