ABSTRACT
The article discusses the impact of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission case on advertising spots. The author notes that the decision might help push political ad spending by up to 1 billion U.S. dollars in 2010. Meredith McGehee of Campaign Legal Center believes that the ruling would provide bigger financial opportunities to broadcasters. Democracy 21 president Fred Wertheimer suggests the need to tighten the requirements related to advertising slots.
