ABSTRACT
The article reports on the milestones of the ten industrial laser applications developed in the first 50 years of laser technology worldwide. The laser materials processing includes hermetic sealing of electronic relays from Raytheon Co., laser drilling and scribing of ceramic substrates from Lumonics Inc., and ruby laser drilling of a turbine blade from General Electric Co. It notes the contributions of the laser processes to the market sector and how it impacted the laser industry.
