ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the recovery of the private placement market in 2010. Market participants are said to expect a wider range of issuers that will come to the market with deals and that there will be an increase in merger activity. Investors in the market were noted to have come back during the middle of 2009, after withdrawing initially. Some notable deals in 2009 include an offering from Australian packaging company Amcor Ltd. that raised 850 million dollars, and the purchase of Sturm Foods by Treehouse Foods for 660 million dollars.
