ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the balance between the autonomy in Canada's foreign and security policies and the harmony in North America in the 21st Century. It notes that continentalism should not be the only guide in pursuing the nation's interests due to the interconnection between politics and geography in the region. It explains that balancing a well-conceived foreign policy and continental security will permit the nation to stabilize its bilateral relationship with the U.S.
