ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the study conducted by N. Khazamipour and colleagues which examines the methylation status of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) in male patients with non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA). The study reveals that hyper-methylation of the MTHFR genes is observed more often in NOA patients. Studies showed that polymorphism and mutations cause low MTHFR enzymatic activity. The researchers compared the methylation status of patients with NOA and obstructive azoospermia.
